Caughley & Co. Construction delivered a full refurbishment of the Fairfield Hotel (formerly the Oonoonba Hotel), transforming a dilapidated venue into a modern, contemporary country hospitality space while maintaining full operations throughout the build.

Completed over 28 weeks and delivered across three carefully staged phases, the project prioritised the upgrade of the gaming room before progressing through amenities, kitchen, bistro, beer garden and sports bar areas. Extensive demolition and strip-out works were undertaken, followed by the installation of new joinery, kitchen facilities and amenities, all designed to suit Townsville’s climate and operational demands.

Key features include bespoke gaming room joinery, ribbed metal cladding, timber bar fronts and durable finishes selected for longevity and visual impact. Through clear communication, detailed staging and experienced management of a live environment, the project was delivered on programme in time for Christmas 2025, achieving a high-quality outcome that enhances both guest experience and day-to-day operations.
